Building a Home for Theatre and Community

Tenino Young-at-Heart Theatre has always been about bringing people together through the arts. Our dream is to create a permanent home for TYT and a flexible community space where people of all ages can create, learn, gather, and celebrate.

In 2021, TYT purchased property in downtown Tenino. This property represents an exciting opportunity to create a space designed to support theatre, the arts, and our growing community for generations to come.

Our vision includes spaces for performances, rehearsals, classes, set and costume creation, community gatherings, and more. We want to create a place that can serve not only TYT productions but also the wider Tenino community.

A Vision Built in Phases

Creating a new home for TYT will be a long-term project. The building and development of the property will happen in phases as funding, planning, and community support allow.

We are currently working on a feasibility study to help us better understand the possibilities for the property and plan responsibly for its future.

While the details of the final building are still being developed, our goal remains the same: to create a welcoming, flexible space that supports theatre, creativity, education, and community connection.

We are excited to share more as the project develops.

We Need Your Help Preparing the Property

There is work that needs to happen before construction can begin. Preparing the property will also help us begin using the space for community activities and events in the future.

The site currently has old foundations, uneven ground, trees and vegetation that need attention, and other areas that need to be cleaned up and prepared.

We are looking for members of our community who may be willing to donate their time, skills, equipment, or expertise to help us take these first steps.

We would especially love to connect with people who have experience in areas such as:

• Site cleanup and preparation
• Landscaping and tree work
• Excavation and grading
• Construction and demolition
• Concrete and foundation work
• Equipment operation
• Engineering and site planning
• General construction
• Event space preparation

If you have skills, equipment, materials, or professional experience that could help us prepare the property, we would love to hear from you.

Your contribution could help us transform the property into a safer, more usable space while we continue planning for the future.

Help Us Bring the Property to Life

Our hope is that this property will begin bringing people together long before the final building is complete.

As we prepare the site, we hope to create opportunities to use the property for community events, performances, gatherings, and other activities.

Every hour volunteered, every skill shared, and every connection made can help move this project forward.

This is a community project, and we believe the best way to build a community space is with the community.
