Tenino Young-at-Heart Theatre
State Fair Auditions

Tenino Young-at-Heart Theatre is an all ages & all abilities community theatre. Our mission is to cultivate community, build relationships, and promote individual growth through the joy of theatre.

About State Fair
In the summer of 1946, the Frake family leaves their farm for an adventure at the Iowa State Fair. Mom and Pop have their hearts set on blue ribbons, while their children Margy and Wayne find romance and heartbreak on the midway.

Note: In this show, the race of the characters is not pivotal to the plot. We encourage diversity and inclusion in our casting choices.

What to expect
Actors will be asked to read and sing sections from State Fair. If actors have prepared a one-minute monologue or 16 measures of music, we would love to hear them. Please make sure to wear clothing and shoes that allows for movement. Actors may be asked to learn a few steps to repeat. After auditions are held, call backs will take place on May 5th.

Be prepared
Fill out the audition form online to save time and let the production team know who is coming. If you do not fill one out ahead of time you are still welcome to audition.

Vaccination is no longer required to participate in TYT productions, but we encourage vaccination for all participants. Our art form requires us to work closely together in large groups where communicable disease can spread. Being vaccinated decreases the risk of serious illness in the case of an outbreak within the cast and crew.

If anyone in the cast becomes sick, no longer has a fever, and feels well enough to attend rehearsals, they may be required to wear a mask at the discretion of the artistic or managing director if they still have symptoms.
